Blood Donors of America, Newyork Chapter Formed


Newyork: With the objective of raising community awareness about the importance of blood donation within the Nepali community and increasing the number of voluntary blood donors, the executive committee of Blood Donors of America, Newyork Chapter was formally constituted on January 11, 2026, under the chairmanship of Mr. Krishna Acharya.

The committee, led by Acharya—himself a regular blood donor in the New York Nepali community—includes Begam Pandit as Executive Vice President; Shankar Paudel, Chhiring Sherpa, and Shanti Jirel as Vice Presidents; and Rashmi Shrestha as General Secretary. Raju Tamang has been appointed Secretary, Kamala Shrestha as Treasurer, and Tuck Ruwali, Bishnu Rana Magar, Chandra Nepali, Bikki Pulami, Buddha Paudel, Bhim Nyaupane, Narendra Subedi, and Kedar Kattel as Executive Members.

The formation program was held in the presence of Mr. Maheshwar Pant, President of the Central Committee of Nepali Blood Donors of America, and Virochan Nepal, Vice President. Community leaders, volunteers, and supporters from various backgrounds were also in attendance.

The organization’s primary objectives include organizing a structured database of Nepali blood donors in the United States, spreading awareness about the significance of blood donation, and encouraging greater community participation in humanitarian services.

Speaking at the program, Central Committee President Maheshwar Pant emphasized the continuous need for voluntary blood donors and highlighted the critical role of organized community efforts during emergencies. Newly elected New York Chapter President Krishna Acharya stated that the chapter aims to build a reliable blood donor network, conduct awareness programs, and collaborate with hospitals and blood banks to support patients in need of blood.

Executive Vice President Begam Pandit urged members of the Nepali diaspora to actively participate in blood donation campaigns, stressing unity and a spirit of service within the community. She highlighted the message that even a single drop of blood can save a life.

All participants present at the event expressed their commitment to actively support donor registration drives, awareness initiatives, and emergency coordination efforts in the coming days to achieve the organization’s noble mission.

The formation of Nepali Blood Donors of America, New York Chapter is expected to further strengthen humanitarian service, promote blood donation as a vital part of healthcare within the Nepali-American community, and reinforce unity and cooperation among community members.
