
Kathmandu — The Chinese film Snow Leopard, directed by Pema Tseden, has been screened for audiences under the Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF). The film had previously premiered at the Venice International Film Festival 2023.
Centered on the lifestyle of Tibetan herders and the relationship between humans and nature, the film has garnered international attention. It was showcased under the special “Xizang Panorama” section of the festival.
On Saturday, other films including Home Away Home Close, Learners from the Top of the World, and Sunrise Over the Plateau were also screened as part of the “Xizang Panorama” lineup. These films were presented at the Nepal Tourism Board hall.
Directed by Guo Yifei, Home Away Home Close tells the story of a young man संघर्षing to run a mobile photo studio for herders living in remote areas. Similarly, Learners from the Top of the World, directed by Jack Malaterre, highlights challenges in the education sector, while Sunrise Over the Plateau, directed by Xiao Xiaowei, portrays social, economic, and cultural transformations.
Under the same section, Warrior King and Discovering Xizang 2026 are scheduled to be screened on Sunday. The “Xizang Panorama” is a special non-competitive showcase at NIFF.
Meanwhile, competitive films under NIFF were screened on Saturday at Civil Mall, Chhaya Center, and the Russian House. In addition, the NIFF Feature Pitch program provided emerging filmmakers with an opportunity to present their stories to producers.
