Kathmandu: Journalist Dipak Samir’s story collection Muna Madan’s Divorce Party was officially launched. The event took place on Saturday at Parijat Hall within the Nepal Academy building in Kamaladi. The collection was jointly unveiled by Dr. Mahendra Bista, Chairman of Public Broadcasting Service Nepal; Member Phulman Bal; literary figure Dr. Geeta Tripathi; and the author himself, Dipak Samir.
Author Samir shared that this is the first time he has compiled his stories, songs, and ghazals into book form. He said, “I have collected various stories written over time to create this book. Since this is my first attempt, there may be some shortcomings, but I have created it with sincerity. It will always hold significant value for me.”
Samir credited his family’s support and his dedication for helping him take the first step in his writing journey. The book, published by Indigo Ink, was launched to coincide with the author’s birthday.
While reviewing the book, Dr. Tripathi described Samir’s initial effort as commendable.
Dr. Bista extended his best wishes, encouraging Samir to balance his journey as both a journalist and writer. He remarked, “Given your excellence in journalism, I am confident you will maintain a balanced approach as an author. Your stories are diverse and engaging, addressing social issues with both satire and awareness.”
Similarly, Public Broadcasting Service Nepal member Phulman Bal praised Samir, likening him to a writer with a style reminiscent of Kumar Nagarkoti. He lauded Samir’s ability to weave compelling narratives within small story arcs.
