Special Screening of the Documentary ‘Galkot’ Held in Pokhara


Kathmandu – A special screening of the documentary titled “Galkot: A Land with Hidden Glory”, which explores the religious, cultural, educational, health, employment, agriculture, and tourism aspects of the historic Galkot area in Waglung district, Gandaki Province, was held in Pokhara. The Galkot region is renowned for its rich heritage and excellent tourism potential.

The 80-minute documentary was showcased during an event organized by Galkot Samaj Pokhara on September 24 at the Galkot Samaj House in Pokhara Metropolitan City, Ward 14, Chowthe.

Radhika Khatri, president of Galkot Samaj Pokhara, honored Dhruvraj Parajuli, the documentary’s producer and editor, for his significant contribution in highlighting the economic, social, cultural, religious, and tourism heritage of the Galkot region through this visual work.

Bavin Nepal, secretary of Galkot Samaj Pokhara and coordinator of the event, expressed satisfaction with the success of the program and emphasized the society’s commitment to organizing similar activities in the future. Belu Kaji Thapa, coordinator of the International Galkot Society, praised the documentary for shedding light on the diverse aspects of the Galkot area. He also mentioned that the film will be of great importance to Galkot residents and will help attract both domestic and international tourists to the region.

The audience also gave positive feedback, recommending that the documentary be viewed by a wider audience.

The documentary was produced and directed by Akash USV Thapa, a native of Galkot currently based in Japan. Created under the banner of USV Seva, the project took four years of dedicated work to complete. Dhruvraj Parajuli noted that the documentary has already been successfully screened in various cities in Japan, and plans are underway to showcase it in other countries, including Nepal.
