Kathmandu – The Nepali film Nakchhong, which vividly portrays the rich cultural heritage and traditional values of the Rai community, is set to have a special screening in the United Kingdom. According to producer Jyoti Raj Rai, all tickets for the exclusive show scheduled on July 20 at The Ashford Cinema have already been sold out.
The overwhelming enthusiasm from the audience and the advance ticket sales have greatly encouraged producer Rai. The entire screening event in the UK is being organized by Kirat Rai Yayokkha UK Ashford Chapter.
Previously released posters featured lead actor Bhuvan Singh Rai in a symbolic setting of Kathmandu, reflecting the film’s cultural depth and mysterious tone.One of the producers of the film is Papy raj Rai, who has been residing in the UK for a long time.
Directed by Kiran Rai and presented by producer Jyoti Raj Rai, Nakchhong is Kiran Rai’s third directorial venture, following his earlier works Lunga and Jiu Paichau. The screenplay was jointly written by Kiran Rai and producer Rai.
According to the film unit, Nakchhong will be released in Nepal after its UK screening. The film centers around the essential role of the ‘Bijuwa (Nakchhong)’—a spiritual figure—in Rai community life, especially in marriage rituals, festivals, and ancestral worship.
