Kathmandu – The Nepali movie Bam Bahadur was premiered in Darjeeling, India, ahead of its simultaneous release in Nepal and India on January 19. Produced by Sanjeev Sarki and directed by John Rai, the film garnered praise from the audience in Darjeeling during its premiere.
The premiere event was organized by Okhli Dhiki Production at the Gorkha Rangamanch Bhawan in Darjeeling. The event honored the hard work and dedication of the cast and team involved in the film’s production. Due to prior commitments with other film projects, lead actor Saugat Malla was unable to attend the premiere. However, other cast members including Anisha Rasaili, Ajay Pradhan, Shantila Tamang, child actor Basist Karki, Prabhat Pakhrein, and Badal Chhetri were present.
Bam Bahadur is a historical and inspirational film based on the struggles of the Nepali community living in Darjeeling, particularly those residing in the Darjeeling hills and the neighboring Duars region. The film is set against the backdrop of the 1986 Gorkhaland movement and portrays the ups and downs of human life. The struggle of the main character, Bam Bahadur, was highlighted by the audience as one of the key factors making the film impactful. Viewers praised the strong storyline, along with captivating, emotional, and lively dialogues.
