‘Pushpa 2’ Running Non-stop in Nepalese Theaters, Aggressive Ticket Sales

Agency. Not only in India but also in Nepal, the highly anticipated film, Pushpa 2, has been eagerly awaited for a long time. The previous installment of the series was a massive success in Nepal. Now, the sequel is expected to create a storm at the box office. Based on the advanced ticket bookings opened on Monday in multiplexes, the film is expected to earn a staggering 3 crore Nepalese rupees in its opening. The number of shows is already over 500.

Some theaters in Nepal are running Pushpa 2 for up to 23 hours. Big Movies in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu, is offering shows from 4:15 AM to 11:55 PM. Since the film is 3 hours and 15 minutes long, including advertisements (5 minutes) and the intermission (10 minutes), viewers leaving the theater at 11:55 PM will not exit until 3:25 AM the next morning. This means the theater will only remain closed for 50 minutes within 24 hours.

Most theaters are operating shows from 5 AM to 11:45 PM, and nearly 70% of the shows for Thursday are already sold out. By Wednesday evening, approximately 90% of the shows are expected to be sold out. With strong door sales, there could be a ticket frenzy on Thursday, indicating an aggressive opening for the film in Nepal.

Pushpa 2 was brought to Nepal at a cost of 4 crore Indian rupees (approximately 6.4 crore Nepali rupees). To recover this amount, the film needs to earn at least 18 crore rupees. Given the positive word of mouth, this target seems achievable. Some foreign films have previously earned over 22 crore rupees in Nepal, and considering the buzz around Pushpa 2, it could reach a figure of 20 crore rupees in Nepal.

Due to the overwhelming demand for Pushpa 2, there will be no Nepali films running for the first week. To accommodate this film, theaters will be pulling down ongoing Nepali films. However, Purnabahadur Ko Sarangi is expected to remain in some theaters. But the massive success of Pushpa 2 is likely to make it difficult for Sarangi to reach its target of 50 crore rupees.
