Kathmandu – The women-centric film Satidevi will have a special screening this coming Saturday (Shrawan 31 / August 16) in Virginia, USA. Organized in honor of women on the auspicious occasion of Teej, the special show was announced by organizer Pushkar Pant.
Pant, who has been living in the USA for a long time yet remains active in Nepali film production, acting, and social service, said that Satidevi has won several national and international awards, making it a celebrated and high-quality film worthy of a special presentation. “We decided to organize this show with the belief that more such authentic, family-oriented films should be produced and watched by more audiences. Everyone should take initiative to preserve Nepali art, culture, authenticity, and identity,” he stated.
Pant, also the producer of Thuli directed by Everest Surya Bohara, expressed excitement about watching Satidevi.
Written, produced, and directed by Laxman Subedi, Satidevi has already won a dozen awards, including the Special Film Award at the National Film Awards 2080 organized by the Film Development Board. The cast includes Malika Mahat, Ramesh Budhathoki, Sandip Babu Lohani, Kulbahadur Adhikari, Srijana Adhikari, child artist Harshika Wali, and Manjila Baniya, among others.
The film was produced under the banner of Dilasha Creation in collaboration with Golden State Movie Makers LLC, California, by Dilasha Subedi, Sara Subedi, Shridevi Subedi, and Bishal Subedi. According to director Subedi, after Virginia, special screenings of Satidevi will also be organized in other US states.
