‘Spot Sync Sound Training’ to Begin Under Film Workers Capacity Enhancement Year–2082

Kathmandu – In an effort to elevate the quality of the Nepali film industry and institutionally recognize the contributions of behind-the-scenes creators, the Film Development Board has designated the fiscal year 2082/083 as the “Film Workers Capacity Enhancement Year–2082.” As part of this initiative, a series of special training programs are being conducted, including the highly significant “Spot Sync Sound Training” for sound professionals, which is set to take place in Kathmandu.

Alongside the Spot Sync Sound Training, the Board has been organizing various other programs this year, including training in sound mixing and post-production, cinematography, scriptwriting, color correction, drone operation, makeup, photo and video journalism, AI training and conferences, swimming and horse-riding training, as well as orientation programs on copyright, cybersecurity, and mental health. These initiatives aim to strengthen the technical expertise, creative confidence, and professional competence of film workers.

The training program is organized by the Film Development Board under the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of Nepal, in collaboration with the Audio Video Society of Nepal (AVSN). Participants will receive both theoretical and practical instruction on high-quality on-location sound recording, professional audio management, scientific use of equipment, and live sync sound technology. The program is expected to establish new standards in sound quality for Nepali cinema.

In recent years, the technical standards of Nepali films have improved significantly. The Board has now adopted a long-term strategy to position Nepali cinema competitively on the international stage. According to Board Chairperson Dinesh DC, the “Capacity Enhancement Year–2082” is not merely a formal declaration but a results-oriented campaign designed to strengthen the industry through practical initiatives. He emphasized that empowering sound designers—who play a crucial role behind the scenes in shaping outstanding cinematic works—is the primary objective of this training.

The Spot Sync Sound Training will commence in Kathmandu from the second week of Falgun, and participation is open to all interested film professionals and technicians. The Board has also urged those who may have missed earlier application deadlines to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance their skills.

Launched with the vision of building a brighter future for Nepali cinema, the Capacity Enhancement campaign seeks to ensure that the hands working behind the screen become more capable, skilled, and confident.
