Kathmandu – The upcoming film Hrashwa Deergha, set to release on Kartik 30 (Friday), is generating significant buzz due to its star-studded cast and high production quality. This movie, backed by actress Neeta Dhungana’s investment, marks the directorial debut of celebrated action director Chandra Pant, who has previously directed Bhojpuri films.
Pant’s debut has intrigued Nepali audiences, eager to see how this experienced action director transitions to full-length feature direction. The enthusiastic response to the recently released trailer reflects this anticipation.
Notably, Pant has brought on board well-known South Indian actors and a Bollywood cinematographer to create Hrashwa Deergha, further heightening audience expectations. This film, a comedy-laced social drama infused with love and emotion, is said to portray a fresh and untold story on an impressive cinematic scale, as claimed by Pant. As a result, the film has reached peak popularity even before its release.
Hrashwa Deergha features an ensemble of Nepali and South Indian actors, marking a first for Nepali cinema. This unique collaboration is generating substantial hype, with many industry experts predicting box office success due to the cast’s popularity.
The excitement intensified after the trailer’s release last Wednesday. In the five days since it launched, the trailer has garnered over 2.1 million views on YouTube—a remarkable number for a Nepali film trailer. As of this report, the trailer is trending at the second position on YouTube, boasting nearly 41,000 likes and over 3,500 comments, most of which are overwhelmingly positive.
Many fans have commented that, based on the trailer alone, the film has “superhit” potential, with some saying it rivals Hindi cinema in terms of quality. The trailer’s comments section also shows audiences noting the improvements in Nepali cinema’s production standards. Neeta Dhungana and South Indian actor Brahmanandam, in particular, have received praise, along with the film’s action sequences, cinematography, dialogues, and background score. Overall, the trailer has managed to captivate and satisfy viewers.
The film stars Harihar Adhikari, Neeta Dhungana, Brahmanandam, Ali, Kabir Duhan Singh, Pradeep Rawat, Sunil Verma, Prashant Tamrakar, Sanchita Luitel, Bipana Thapa, Saroj Khanal, Naren Khadka, Garima Sharma, Rabindra Jha, Aardash Mishra, Buddhi Tamang, and Kiran K.C., among others.
The story is by Harihar Adhikari, with a screenplay and dialogue by Pratik Paudel, Chandra Pant, and Harihar Adhikari. Cinematography is handled by renowned Bollywood cinematographer Kabir Lal, with Dhananjay Galani as the executive producer.
Produced under the Neeta Films banner, Hrashwa Deergha was shot at Nepal’s Ramoji Film City, one of the largest studios in the world. The film’s budget is reportedly 60 million NPR and will release in three languages: Nepali, Telugu, and Hindi. The poster is designed by Vijay Basyal, and the film will be distributed by Manoj Rathi and Ujjwal Paudel’s Banquettes Entertainment.
