Bhattarai’s ‘Jhilko’ Teaser Highlights Mobile Addiction’s Impact

Kathmandu – The teaser for Jhilko has been released. Directed by Yadav kumar Bhattarai, known for his work on Jhola, the teaser sheds light on the effects of mobile addiction in society. Released on Thursday, the teaser focuses on how mobile addiction, especially among children, affects mental and social well-being.

The teaser specifically addresses the growing digital dependence in today’s generation, along with its psychological, social, and familial impacts. It depicts how mobile phones contribute to relationship rifts, emotional distance between individuals, and the fading of real-life connections in favor of the digital world.

Bhattarai, who has previously directed socially conscious films such as Jhola (which tackled the issue of the Sati system) and Bhor (which focused on dowry practices), once again takes on a modern social issue in Jhilko. The film explores the social ramifications of technological expansion and its effects on society. The cast includes Ayushi Dhakal, Sunil Pokharel, Barsha Shiwakoti, Vishal Pokharel, Bholaraj Sapkota, Jevin Shrestha, and Jhevis Shrestha.

The film features cinematography by Deepak Bajracharya, editing by Nimesh Shrestha, and sound mixing by Shyam Kunwar and Uttam Nyaupane. The story and screenplay were co-written by Bhattarai, Arun Dev Joshi, and Devbrat. The music is composed by Chandi Prasad Kafle and Deepak Sharma, with vocals from Shiv Pariyar, Nisha Deshar, and Sahima Shrestha.

Presented by Media for Culture Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with Janata TV, Jhilko is set to release on Baishakh 19.
