Trailer of the movie ‘Anjila’ released

Kathmandu. The trailer of the upcoming Nepali movie ‘Anjila,’ which is set to release on the 29th of Falgun, has been made public. The trailer showcases the journey of national women’s football team captain and number one goalkeeper, Anjila Tumbapo Subba, focusing on her passion for football, her abilities, the struggles of stepping out from her home, and her journey to becoming the captain.

The trailer release event, held in Kathmandu, saw the presence of actors Dayahang Rai, artist Sumin Gurung, producer and actor Prem Kumar Shrestha, director Milan Chams, and others, alongside Anjila. Anjila is the main character of the film. During the event, director Chams shared that it was very challenging to have most national players act in the movie. He mentioned that getting non-actors to perform was extremely difficult and revealed that actor Dayahang Rai was made to wait for two years before he agreed to act in the film.

Producer and actor Prem Kumar Shrestha stated that the story of the film is more about Anjila than football itself. Actor Dayahang Rai expressed his admiration for the women’s football team, saying he is a big fan of the team and loves all Nepali sports. “When I was asked about the film, I didn’t even know what the role was, but I agreed to work on it. I will be grateful for this throughout my life,” said Rai.

In the event, Anjila mentioned that she has many names to remember, and director Milan Chams is now one of them. “I will never forget Milan Dai. I used to be afraid of him, but now he feels like my brother. I’m leaving my story in their hands. I’m deeply grateful. I never imagined that I would act alongside Dayahang Rai. He was dedicated to the game no matter the circumstances,” Anjila said. She also thanked Prem Kumar Shrestha, who became a mentor to her since she came to Kathmandu, saying, “I am where I am today because of him. It’s not just my story, but the path for other athletes’ films has also opened up.”

Anjila shared that when she was 13, she used to carry heavy sacks of rice weighing 60 kilograms, and therefore didn’t face much difficulty during the shooting.

The film also features actors Sunil Thapa, Vijay Baral, Srijana Subba, Mao Tse Gurung, and Buddhi Tamang. The shooting of the movie took place in Anjila’s hometown of Ilam, Aitabare, Jhapa, and Kathmandu. The cinematography was done by Sudip Baral, while the editing was handled by Milan Shrestha. The movie was produced under the banner of Munn Love Entertainment, with Prem Kumar Shrestha as the producer. Tubendra Limbu, Binod Agarwal, and Rajesh Bagdiya are co-producers, and Binod Subedi Khatri played the role of the executive producer.
