Sapkota Enters FNCCI Race to Become a Strong Voice for the Private Sector

Kathmandu – As the 60th Annual General Meeting and election of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry approaches, the candidacy of businessman Balram Sapkota for the position of Central Executive Committee Member under the Associate (Open) category has gained significant attention. Having established a strong presence in the hospitality sector of eastern Nepal, Sapkota has stepped into the race with the aim of playing an effective role in advancing the interests of the overall private sector through the federation.

Competing as part of the panel led by vice-presidential candidate Jyotsna Shrestha, Sapkota is one of the founding operators of the renowned luxury hotel Mechi Crown, located in Dhulabari, Mechinagar, Jhapa. With a vision to establish an international-standard hotel in eastern Nepal, he successfully transformed the project into a landmark venture within a short span of time, contributing notably to the regional economy and tourism promotion.

Equipped with over 205 rooms, modern conference facilities, a swimming pool, casino, and helipad, Mechi Crown is now regarded as one of the leading hotels not only in eastern Nepal but also at the national level. Its strategic location near a key border trade hub and its high-quality services have made it a preferred destination for tourists and corporate events alike.

Building on this experience, Sapkota is now actively pursuing a leadership role at the national business level. Announcing his candidacy, he emphasized the need to make the federation more dynamic and effective in addressing the challenges faced by the private sector. He has expressed his commitment to ensuring policy stability, investment security, and a business-friendly environment.

Sapkota has identified the protection of small and medium enterprises, promotion of productive sectors, and revival of tourism and service industries as his key priorities. He also stated that one of his main objectives is to effectively raise and address the concerns of provincial-level entrepreneurs at the central level.

With his business journey originating in eastern Nepal and now expanding toward national leadership, Sapkota’s growing involvement has brought renewed energy and optimism within the private sector. Combining experience, clear vision, and a results-oriented approach, he has emerged as a strong, credible, and promising candidate for the Associate (Open) Central Executive Committee Member position.
