Kathmandu . Under the banner of Climax Art Production, filming of the new Gurung-language film “Teno Kursi (Dhog Bhet)” is currently in full swing in the beautiful village of Okhari, Lamjung district. The film is being made with the objective of portraying the authentic lifestyle, traditions, and cultural values of the Gurung community on screen.
The film features performances by popular Gurung actors including Parbat Gurung, Khushi Gurung, Babita Gurung, Rajesh Gurung, Bhim Gurung, Tikaram Gurung, Om Gurung, Alisa Gurung, and Pooja Gurung, among others.
Produced by Chandra Gurung and Kumar Gurung, the film is written and directed by Subash Gurung (Ganesh). Active in the Nepali cultural film scene for over two decades, director Gurung began his career in 2058 B.S. with the Gurung-language film Kashi (Kanchi), where he debuted as both an actor and assistant director. Since then, he has directed and produced several Gurung-language films such as Mihthaba, Nga Nasa, Bhuligya Paap Lagla, Nga Jindagi, Nga Kya, Asyo, Bhedigothale, Kutumberi, and more.
According to the production team, Teno Kursi (Dhog Bhet) aims to preserve and promote the unique culture and traditions of the Gurung community. The film is also expected to inspire the younger generation to take pride in their ethnic identity. Filming is in its final phase, with the release planned in the near future.
Based in Hong Kong, director Subash Gurung is also known for his contributions as a singer and composer in various Gurung-language songs. Additionally, he is the founding vice president of Gurung Film Association Nepal, a collective platform for Gurung-language filmmakers. Long dedicated to preserving his language, culture, and identity, Gurung is once again preparing to present a powerful cinematic experience to the audience.
