Kathmandu – Following the historic success of the Nepali-Hindi fusion song Jhyai, Atmoon Entertainment is now gearing up for another major collaborative project between Nepal and Bollywood, featuring singer and actress Manzayashree Bhatt. The immense success of Jhyai has paved the way for taking Nepal’s authentic music to the international stage. Riding on this momentum, Manzayashree is set to appear in a new musical project alongside a renowned Bollywood celebrity. According to Bhatt, the upcoming song will also be a joint presentation of Nepali and Bollywood music.
Released last year at New York’s Times Square, Jhyai showcased a unique blend of Nepali and Hindi musical elements, incorporating the core segment of the Nepali folk song “Jhyai paryo malai, ratyauliko jhilkele jhyai paryo” into its composition. Sung by Manzayashree, who was born and raised in the USA, along with popular Bollywood singer Dev Negi, the song bridged Nepali and Indian music lovers in a shared musical journey. The track significantly contributed to Manzayashree’s recognition in both India and Nepal. Jhyai has already surpassed 84.5 million views on YouTube and was trending worldwide.
Addressing Nepali listeners and audiences, singer Manzayashree expressed, “The love and support that ‘Jhyai’ has received from Nepali and Indian audiences worldwide give me confidence that my upcoming projects will receive the same warmth. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all my Nepali listeners.” According to Bhatt, the upcoming project aims to take Nepali-Bollywood fusion music to even greater heights.
The Jhyai music video was directed by Bollywood’s experienced cinematographer and director Vinod Pradhan, known for his work in blockbuster films like Devdas and Rang De Basanti. Pradhan has also contributed to Nepali films such as Kusume Rumal and Samjhana. Sharing his experience, he said, “This was my first time working on a fusion of Nepali and Hindi music, and it was an exciting and unique experience. The love and appreciation from Nepali audiences have been overwhelming.”
The Jhyai music video was shot at the grand Imperial Palace in Mumbai. The song’s sound engineering, mixing, and mastering were handled by Rahul Sharma, who has previously worked on films under Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Dharma Productions. The choreography was designed by Bosco-Caesar, the renowned duo behind dance sequences in Bollywood films like Pathaan and War.
