Kathmandu — Rising actor Aniket Pakhrin Lama has been signed for the upcoming romantic film Sumnima, directed by Milan Chams. Known as a contestant on the Indian reality show MTV Splitsvilla, Aniket was selected for the role through an audition process, director Chams confirmed. Aniket had secured a spot in the Top 8 during the 14th season of Splitsvilla.
Though a newcomer, Aniket’s confidence, personality, and on-camera presence impressed the production team, according to the director. Sumnima will mark Aniket Pakhrin Lama’s debut in the Nepali film industry.
The film, a pure romantic drama, is a co-production between Gorkha Films and Chams Entertainment. Despite its seemingly female-centric title, director Chams stated that Sumnima will center around themes of love, conflict, and cultural background.
Actress Upasana Singh Thakuri, actors Kunsang Bomjan and Anup Bikram Shahi have already been confirmed as part of the cast. The selection process for other cast and crew members is still ongoing.
The script is penned by Rajiv Thapa, and filming is set to begin this August in both London and Nepal. Director Milan Chams’ most recent biopic Anjila was a major box office success and set a new benchmark in Nepali biographical cinema.
Chams emphasized that Sumnima is also being developed with an international audience in mind.
