Kathmandu: The first look of the movie ‘Jhilko’ (The Spark), directed by acclaimed filmmaker Yadav Kumar Bhattarai of ‘Jhola’ fame, has been officially released. The film’s first poster was unveiled on Friday, with the announcement that it will hit theaters across Nepal starting on January 5th.
The poster features prominent actors Sunil Pokharel, Varsha Sivakoti, Bholaraj Sapkota, Vishal Pokharel, and Ayushi Dhakal. It hints at the film’s theme, which explores the challenges faced by children due to mobile addiction and its broader impact on families and society. The poster was designed by Ideal.
In a statement accompanying the release, Director Bhattarai said, “Following ‘Jhola’ and ‘Bhoor,’ our third movie ‘Jhilko’ reflects a story of today’s society—a digital society.”
Bhattarai, who gained recognition with ‘Jhola’, a film centered on the Sati system, followed it up with ‘Bhoor’ in 2019, tackling the issue of dowry. ‘Jhilko’ continues his exploration of socially relevant themes. The screenplay and dialogue have been co-written by Arundev Joshi, Devvrat, and Bhattarai himself.
The film’s cinematography is by Deepak Bajracharya, with music composed by Chandiprasad Kafle and Deepak Sharma. Edited by Nimesh Shrestha, the film is produced by Sushila Acharya and Ramgopal Thapa, while Umesh Paudel serves as the executive producer.
‘Jhilko’ promises to deliver a timely narrative reflecting the modern struggles of digital addiction and its repercussions on contemporary society.
