Kathmandu: The official muhurat of the Nepali film “Dori” was held on Thursday at the Yula Saraswati Temple in Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur, with a script and camera worship ceremony. The movie’s shooting is set to begin this Sunday, promising to deliver a fresh narrative and style to Nepali cinema.
The muhurat event witnessed the presence of the lead cast and crew members. Actors Prabin Khatiwada, Anjana Baraili, Shishir Bangdel, Raj Paudel, Birendra Singh Kushwaha, Bishal Rai, Milan Rai, and Nutan, among others, participated in the ceremony, offering prayers for the film’s success. The event was also attended by director Arun Lama, executive producer Raj Thapa, cinematographer Saurabh Lama, and music composer Rajan Raj Siwakoti. The film will also feature performances by Kavita Ale and Sajan Shrestha.
Directed by Arun Lama, “Dori” aims to bring contemporary realities to life through its storytelling. Lama shared, “Dori will deeply resonate with audiences, allowing them to see reflections of themselves in the characters.”
Lead actress Anjana Baraili described working with the new team as a unique experience. “It’s always exciting to be part of a fresh project. This film offers a novel idea that will give audiences a unique experience. After the muhurat, I’m filled with energy and enthusiasm, and I am confident in the film’s success,” she remarked.
Actor Prabin Khatiwada defined “Dori” as a blend of various genres. “This movie combines elements of mystery, social realism, and suspense crime. This intriguing mix is sure to captivate the audience,” he said.
“Dori” is a socially charged, mysterious, and suspenseful film that seeks to highlight societal truths. According to the director, its narrative is designed to provoke thought, with mysterious events and a meaningful story appealing to audiences across all demographics.
The film’s screenplay is written by director Arun Lama himself, with script doctoring by Manoj Pandit. It is produced by Dinesh Bhattarai, with Raj Thapa as the executive producer. The music is composed by Rajan Raj Siwakoti, cinematography by Saurabh Lama, and action direction by Raju Tamang. “Dori” is slated for release in 2025.
