The highly anticipated movie Narasimha: Avatar, directed by Diwakar Bhattarai, has officially commenced filming. The film’s Muhurat ceremony was held on Thursday at NFDC Studio, Balaju, in Kathmandu.
Producer Narendra Maharjan initiated the Muhurat shot for this action-packed social drama by clapping the slate. The production team celebrated the occasion with producer and distributor Chhabiraj Ojha breaking a coconut, a traditional act symbolizing good fortune. The first scene featured an action sequence starring Karan Shrestha.
The event saw the participation of the film’s key cast, including veteran actor Rajesh Hamal, alongside Raj Katuwal, Niti Shah, Sanisha Bhattarai, and Arjun Shrestha.
Speaking on the occasion, director Diwakar Bhattarai described the project as a significant challenge for him. “This film is particularly challenging for me,” he said. “The biggest hurdle was finalizing the script without Rajesh Dai (brother Rajesh). It took me three months to convince him to take the role.”
Producer Narendra Maharjan revealed that he joined the project due to its unique approach and vision. Similarly, legendary actor Rajesh Hamal expressed his excitement about the film’s story, stating, “I found the script different from my initial expectations. The strong collaboration with the production team is what drew me back to the screen.”
Lead actor Raj Katuwal shared his childhood admiration for Hamal, saying, “I’ve been collecting Rajesh Hamal’s posters since I was young, and now, acting alongside him feels surreal.”
Actress Niti Shah joined the project, attracted by its challenges and the opportunity to work with Hamal. Sanisha Bhattarai, another lead actress, revealed her excitement about sharing the screen with Hamal, whom she had been a fan of since childhood due to her father’s admiration for him.
The film is slated for release on february -26 and features an ensemble cast, including Rajesh Hamal, Raj Katuwal, Niti Shah, Saroj Khanal, Sanisha Bhattarai, Deepa Shahi, Prashant Tamrakar, Neer Shah, Ramesh Chand Sodari, and Prakash Kunwar.
Babal, Rajesh Hamal’s character in the film, marks his return to the silver screen after an eight-year hiatus. Hamal has been working on perfecting his look for this comeback role for quite some time.
One of the film’s highlights is the reunion of actors Saroj Khanal and Rajesh Hamal after 30 years. The last time they worked together was in Sadak.
