Kathmandu – The 13th Nepal-Africa International Film Festival 2025 invites filmmakers to submit their feature films, telefilms, and short films for participation. The festival is scheduled to take place in the first week of Magh (January) in Kathmandu.
Organized by the College of Journalism and Mass Communication and Bilakshan Creations, in collaboration with the Film Development Board, the festival offers a platform for diverse cinematic expressions.
Filmmakers interested in participating are requested to submit their films by the end of December. Submissions can be made via FilmFreeway.com, email, or in person at the organizers’ office. The festival seeks entries from Nepali and indigenous filmmakers, including short films and documentaries. Students are also encouraged to submit their short films for the event. Outstanding films will be showcased and honored with awards during the festival.
This year, along with African cinema, the festival will include an international segment, featuring selected films from other countries. While African films will be given special emphasis for screening and awards, notable international films will also be showcased, according to the organizers.
Festival Director Dabbu Kshatri shared that this event has been held annually for the past 14 years, except for a break during the COVID-19 pandemic. As in previous years, the festival will span three days and include screenings, workshops on various aspects of filmmaking, discussions on Nepali cinema, and other engaging activities. The festival will also host gatherings of filmmakers from Nepal and abroad, fostering cross-cultural exchanges and collaboration.
