37th Anniversary of the Nepal Film Artists Association


Kathmandu. On the second day of the 37th anniversary celebration of the Nepal Film Artists Association, an interaction and discussion program was held on Sunday at the auditorium of the Film Development Board in the capital.

The chief guest of the event, veteran actor Rajesh Hamal, shared his 36-year-long acting journey and emphasized the need to embrace the changes in audience perception and time. Reflecting on the transformations in viewers’ mindset over each decade, he remarked that the current global technological revolution has brought both challenges and opportunities to the film industry.

Similarly, Dinesh DC, Chairman of the Film Development Board, presented the board’s current plans and progress review. He praised Hamal’s contribution to safeguarding Nepali cinema and creating employment opportunities. Acknowledging Hamal as the undisputed “Mahanayak” (megastar), he stated, “He never limited himself by thinking about whether he was a director, producer, or technician. He consistently worked, which not only gave jobs to many but also helped save the film industry during times of crisis.”

The program was moderated by Mohan Niraula, President of the Nepal Film Artists Association and a senior artist. On the occasion, Samir Balami, President of the Film Journalists Association, highlighted the impact that artists’ words and behavior can have on audiences. Likewise, analyst and filmmaker Dr. Ghanshyam Khatriwada shared his insights on the importance of language in cinema.

Actress Anjana Baraili shared her personal experience, saying that she never faced harassment when she entered the film industry. She encouraged aspiring female artists with the message: “There is no reason to fear—move forward with confidence.”

The event was hosted by Gopal Dhakal, coordinated by actor Sabin Shrestha, and managed by director Devendra Pandey. In his closing remarks, President Niraula expressed the association’s commitment to always remain ready to cooperate for the development of the Nepali film industry.

The program, organized in collaboration with the Film Development Board, saw remarkable participation of veteran artists and technicians from the film sector. On the first day, a tree plantation program had been conducted at Bhandarkhal in the capital.
