Kathmandu. The first look poster of the Nepali feature film Nakchhong (Bijuwa) has been officially released. The production team unveiled one of the film’s posters as its first look, marking the beginning of its promotional campaign.
Presented by Jyotiraj Rai, the poster prominently features lead actor Bhuvan Singh Rai. In the background, the poster showcases a panoramic view of Kathmandu along with the symbolic Bijuwa (Nakchhong), hinting at the film’s deep cultural and thematic narrative.
The film stars Bhuvan Singh Rai, Yaseli Yonghang, Sushma Subba Gurung, Sara Rai, Tayahang Rai, Anusha Rai, Saroj Rai, Uttam Rai, Purna Limbu, Trichu Rai, Dinesh Koirala, Hem Dilungcha Rai, Uday Subba Kurungbang, Binod Pomo, Sagar Kerung, Babin Rai, Tulsha Limbu, Madan Khodung Rai, Sashita Rai, Rasa Limbu, Mission Bantawa Rai, and child artist Jason Rai, among others.
Directed by Kiran Rai, Nakchhong is his third directorial venture, following his earlier films Lunga and Jiupaincho. Kiran has also written the screenplay for the film. It is produced by Popiraj Rai, with cinematography by Babu Shrestha.
The lyrics are penned by Rajan Mukarung and Bishnu Kirati, with music composed by Dineshkaji Bantawa and Anil Koi Rai. Vocals for the songs have been provided by Nogen Limbu and Pares Rai.
The film’s chief assistant director is Bharat Limbu, and the executive producer is Ramu Shrestha. The screenplay was collaboratively edited by director Kiran Rai and producer Jyotiraj Rai. Background score is composed by Manish Niraula, color grading is done by Anil Rana, and sound design and mixing by Sagar Aryal. The production managers are Giriraj Rai and Kamal Limbu (Sarke).
Producer Jyotiraj Rai stated that the film was made with the intention of preserving and passing down cultural traditions. Nakchhong (Bijuwa)—a key ritual element in various ceremonies such as festivals, weddings, ancestral rites, and funerals—plays a central role in the narrative, highlighting its cultural significance and need for preservation.
The release date of the film is yet to be announced. However, the film is set to premiere at national and international film festivals before its official public release.
Jyotiraj Rai has previously produced films such as Lunga, Sangam, Triveni, Papi Manche, One Way, and Producer, along with several popular television series.
